New logo
29th October 2024
Eagle eyed members may have noticed we are in the process of creating a new logo in addition to the transfer to a member jungle platform for membership and the website. For those of us involved that are not creative designers this has been a rapid lesson in pixels, png, svg and favicons. We are still trying to fine tune the logo iterations, and apologies for any weirdness with the Facebook page, this is entirely due to the luddite President having issues resizing. Many thanks to Christof who has been providing the designs and Alex for helping set up the new membership system. Their volunteer assistance has been greatly appreciated.
The driver for the membership system change was issues with renewals and communication whilst using the previous database. All current members were transferred and given several months free membership and new member numbers are now steadily growing.
The driver for the logo change was for rebranding to a climbing theme. We hope boulderers won't feel excluded by a rope motif. We all know that they are needed to work those highballs and our executive that boulder were involved in the decision. The change also helps reinforce that access is primarily a state based issue due to the difference in land management practices and legislation in each state. One day there may be an overarching federal organisation like the BMC or AccessFund but like in the UK or USA this will take time and climber engagement via memberships to create a legitimate voice for advocacy.
