Reconciliation week

We are now in the middle of Reconciliation week 2025, and we thought we would share this NPWS video from a greater Blue Mountains World heritage event in 2023 in which Aboriginal people from the world heritage area reflect on the meaning of Country. 

As climbers, we move through landscapes shaped by tens of thousands of years of cultural connection. Recognising the enduring custodianship of Aboriginal people enriches our experience and deepens our respect for the lands we are fortunate to live, climb, and explore on.

Reconciliation weeks runs from 27 May to 3 June every year. The dates commemorate the 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision. The theme this year is Bridging Now to Next and it calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.
