Arapiles Open letter Summary

This article summarises the open letter regarding the proposed management plan for Arapiles/Dyurrite calling for improved consultation and a better plan that recognises the importance of climbing to climbers and the local community. Over 10 000 individuals signed as well as 155 businesses and organisations, This great response has been sent to politicians in Victoria. A reminder that formal submissions to the existing flawed plan are due by February 14. |

Clean Up our Crags- Take3

Update on Arapiles Tooan State Park- open letter for signing
- 8th November 2024
Earlier today we contacted members encouraging them to sign this open letter to the minister for Parks Victoria about the proposed climbing bans at Arapiles / Dyurrite. The letter comes from climbing organisations around Australia and can be signed by individuals and businesses. Subsequently there is news that climbing representatives will meet with the minister next week, and a parliamentary petition that only Victorians can sign is under preparation. |

Half of the Climbing at Arapiles/ Dyurrite to be closed

Australia’s and arguably the world’s best trad crag is to have access to half of the climbing areas closed. Over the past 3 years cultural heritage assessments have been undertaken and the outcome of this has finally been revealed in a draft management plan. The news is not good for climbers. |
